Hello dear readers
Today i will be describing one of the most festive cities in México. Aguascalientes has a very pleasant climate in average year-round is from 630-730 F (when in summer). There are so much places to enjoy like its splendid churches, plazas, gardens, museums, bullfight arenas, swimming resorts with thermal waters, and much much more…. Now imagine relaxing in the thermal waters and cleansing your mind away from all the stress that has been gathered all year-round. Doesn’t it sound wonderful? If this isn’t enough there is outdoor recreational activities in areas with excellent weather, and awesome views where you can enjoy camping, trekking, horseback riding, rock climbing, rappelling, and take a guided tour along interpretive trails. The places to do all the previous mentioned are the following: Tunel de Potrerillo, Cerro de la Ardilla, Monolitola Muela, Cañon de Huijolotes, Complejo Ecologico El Chilarillo, and Ejido Ecoturistico El Ocote. Oh but that is not all every single year there is 2 mayor parties in the city of Aguascalientes one is the San Marcos National Fair and the Festival de las Calaveras (Festival of Skulls). Well let me tell you a little of the San Marcos National Fair, this fair begins on mid april and it lasts 1 month. Every year a country and state is invited over to bring their culture and share it with México everything from food, literature, theater, music, etc… some of the countries that have shared their culture were Cuba in 2006, Brazil in 2007, Spain in 2008, France in 2009, and Italy in 2010 how fascinating. The way that cultures are shared from country to country improves are knowledge of each one as well it encourages to visit again! The activities you can enjoy while in this fair too many but here are the ones of my interest: National Charro Championship, Cockfighting, Bullfighting, Horse Raicing, Sporting Events, artistic events, Papantla Flyers, Nightclubs, Clubs, Bars, Snack Bars, Canteens, Fireworks, Tours, Indoor and Outdoor Theaters and plenty more… With out a doubt Aguascalientes is the place where death is celebrated with joy and festivity by celebrating its yearly Festival de Calaveras. It is celebrated the last week of October and the first week of November to be exact it’s celebrated on the day of the death. Family and friends gather to pray for and remember their loved ones that have died. Many beautiful altars are built on this day honoring the deceased. On these altars you will see sugar skulls marigolds, gifts, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed. You may wonder why is this done well it is believed that on that day the souls of the departed will visit to hear the prayers and comments of the living. Now all the treats of the altars its believed that the spirits of the dead eat the “spiritual essence” of the offering put to them. There is tours made with in the city and its surroundings there are also painting and photographic expositions. A variety of musical events, drawing contests, dances and performances by dance groups, parade of skulls. Visiting Aguascalientes has been my greatest experience since I was able to understand the culture and was well treated by everyone thanks México. Oh what a wonderfull place to visit and have fun with your family! This is all for now till the next time.
